Sonic Bloom Branding

Sonic Bloom is a concept for an EDM music festival held in a redwood forest. In this branding project for an identity course, my team imagined Sonic Bloom’s identity at the intersection of the energy of modern technology and the ethereality of the natural world. My contributions included the logo icon and designs for name tags, tickets, and wristbands.

For the logo icon, my focus was integrating and juxtaposing both aspects of Sonic Bloom’s brand identity. The smoothly curving sound waves intertwine like forest vines, representing the bonds formed in the festival community, and act as the stems of flowers blooming into sharp electric edges, energized by the beat of the music.

In my designs for the name tags, my key considerations were the needs of both the attendees and the staff. For attendees, my goal was to create a memorable name tag that could be a keepsake of the festival, so I chose a pinecone shape as a nod to the location and combined colorful gradients with the brand’s signature texture of abstract line waves to create a visual representation of the energetic and ethereal atmosphere. I also gave the staff name tags a neon background with high-contrast text so attendees could easily find staff members. For the staff members, besides being able to find each other in the crowds, I chose different colors for the bright parts of the gradients on the general admission and VIP name tags so staff could tell at a glance what level of access an attendee has.
