These Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a national competition for artists and writers in grades 7–12. I submitted in the art portfolio category and received an honorable mention in my region. My work is based on my relationship with Germany as a dual citizen of the U.S. and Germany who was born and raised in the U.S. and has never spent longer than a month at a time in Germany. I pushed myself to experiment in a variety of styles and mediums.
